STOP THE PRESS! Is this new can coming to a town near you?





As graphic designers, we are used to the concept of rebranding, indeed we assist clients with carrying them out.

However, we were not prepared for one of the most iconic brands (well our favourite anyway!) having a new appearance on our supermarket shelves!

The Coca-Cola Company suffered a drop in sales last year, so for the US market they have rebranded in order to attract a wider audience.

The new typeface is flatter and bolder in a colour palette of silver and red. The new style cans are slimmer and taller and no longer have the graphic background, but instead a simple illustration of the fruit flavour it represents.

Although it is rolling the new cans out next month throughout America, it would seem that they haven't yet decided whether the UK is ready for the new branding and flavours! Watch this space!

WHAT IS REBRANDING? Rebranding is a marketing strategy in which a new name, term, symbol, design, or combination thereof is created for an established brand with the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of consumers, investors, competitors, and other stakeholders.
